About our founder:
Alex Softley
Alex has spent over a decade developing marketing strategies and plans for event and media businesses and brands including Northstar Meetings Group, The Meetings Show, isla, TRACE by isla, M&IT and Centaur Media. He’s held senior roles across media companies, exhibition and event organisers, B2B SaaS, associations and more, giving him a clear view of how event businesses really work: the commercial pressures, team constraints, and the gap between what the plan says and commercial success.
He's also worked with Comic Relief, Global Radio (Heart, Capital, Radio X) and Friends Life (now part of Aviva). His campaigns have won awards along the way, but what's more important is implementing marketing strategies and plans that actually move the numbers.
A trained marketer with 15 years in the discipline with an always learning mindset, Alex works with all companies that are part of the events industry as a fractional CMO or on one-off strategy projects - senior strategic thinking without the full-time hire. He also takes pride in coaching the marketers he works with, helping them step off the channel hamster wheel and start thinking like strategists. The brief is always the same: make sure marketing is earning its place, not just filling a content calendar.
